Adopt-A-Hive

The best way for anyone to help save honey bees by funding research and providing needed supplies and maintenance.

About the Program

Adopt-A-Hive provides opportunities for everyone to help save honey bees, including those who are not beekeepers. The program allows members to become adoptive parents to one of our beehives for one year. 100% of the funds contributed through donations goes to providing food, supplies, and treatments to the adopted hive(s) as well as aiding honey bee research efforts.

How Important are Honey Bees?

Honey bees are talked about a lot in the news, in the press, on social media, and in many other online or offline places. Though news stories can be (and often are) skewed, it's clear that many people want to know "how important are the honey bees really?" Are honey bees actually worth all of the press they get? The short answer is YES! Honey bees are that important. Don't take our word for it though, check out what one of history's leading honey bee experts had to say:

Maurice Maeterlinck The Life of the Bee

“If the bee disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live.”

That's a pretty bold statement, but it's definitely worth thinking about. We depend on honey bees for a large portion of our crop pollination. Without honey bees, we could potentially face severe food shortages. We might miss out on our almonds, peaches, oranges, and many other crops that we expect to be there when we get to the grocery store.

Even the UN is starting realize just how important honey bees are:

Achim Steiner Former Executive Director UN Environment Program (UNEP)

“Bees underline the reality that we are more, not less, dependent on nature's services in a world of [over] 7 billion people.”

Ok I get that honey bees are important, but how can I possibly make any difference?

You can make a difference in many ways, but the easiest way is to participate in the Adopt-A-Hive Program. Check out our adoption packages to see which package works best for you and know that even the smallest contributions can go a long way.

Give Back to the Bees

Honey bees provide us with so many amazing benefits. The least we can do is give back by providing them a better chance at survival.

Pavan Sukhdev United Nations Report - The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity

"Not a single bee has ever sent you an invoice...most of what comes to us from nature is free. Because it is not invoiced, because it is not priced, because it is not traded in markets, we tend to ignore it"

Yes, I want to help and become an adoptive parent today!
