Description

The beekeeping smock protects your head, arms, and torso from bee stings. It is designed with heavy material to give you maximum protection, but is also flexible and comfortable allowing you to work at your beehives unhindered.

The material of the beekeeping smock is durable and can be washed using a regular washer. It is recommended, however, to let your smock air dry instead of using an electric dryer.

*Beekeeping gloves sold separately.

Additional Info

As the beekeeping smock only covers your upper body, you need to make sure you wear protective layers that cover your lower extremities. At least one layer of jeans or other heavy pants are crucial to fully protecting yourself from bee stings.

We cover the differences between the smock and a full-body beekeeping suit in our Starter Kit course. That course is available to everyone for free in our Education Center.

The beekeeping smock (or a full-body suit) should be used in the following situations:

  • Examining frames for brood, honey, or diseases
  • Extracting honey
  • Adding new frames, hive bodies, or supers to your hive
  • Putting new queens or bees in a hive
  • Splitting a hive
  • Capturing honey bee swarms
